Dear Parents,
It is so hard to believe that May is here. We are still busy, busy, busy. The class book has been published, printed, and bound and should be in school by next week. I cannot wait for the students to see their writing in published forms. We continue to create our poetry books, with cinquains and triplets being added to them next week. We have been working on their endangered animals essays and they will be creating their own zoo enclosure for their animal to bring to school to create our classroom zoo. In math, we will be taking our units of measurement chapter 5 test on Tuesday. We will begin studying angles, rays and lines for our next unit. We continue to learn about space and earth, as well. So much to do and learn in fourth grade.
,ASSIGNMENTS: As part of our routine, students write assignments that are posted on the board at the beginning of the day, the first thing they do. Sometimes they may need to change them throughout the day, but the first thing they are supposed to do is fill out their planner. From now on, I will be checking planners sporadically. Your student is expected to fill out their planner accurately and every day. Please check at home to see if this is actually happening, and if not, please let me know. Every Monday, two iXL assignments in math, 4th grade level, and two iXL assignments in language arts, 4th grade level, are assigned and are due the following Monday. Please note that because students have one week to complete their assignments, late assignments will not be accepted. I-Ready homework is also assigned Ion Mondays. Students must complete and pass two math lessons and two reading lessons each week by Friday. They cannot make them up the following week. Assignments from that week will not be credited the following week. Math workbook pages must be completed and in school the following day. Late work will not be accepted. Reading logs are due on Mondays and are due the following Monday. Math Fact Fluency logs will also be due on Mondays and are due the following Monday. If a student does not have homework, a missing homework receipt is sent home. Please sign this receipt and return it the following day. Test corrections are allowed for half credit. They must be made and turned in the following day. They will not be accepted after that. All tests must be signed and returned the following day. They will usually have a stamp on them.
Uniforms
As a reminder, please make sure your student is in compliance with the school’s uniform policy.
Please dress for recess!
We go outside when it is very cold, up to 20 degrees. While it is warm now, it will not stay that way. Please make sure your student is warm enough for outdoor play. Dress him/her in layers, including a hat, gloves, and scarves, if necessary. Thank you.
