Fourth Grade is rolling along! We continue our novel study of Number the Stars. We are also learning about opinion writing, and are researching the topic of whether or not Christopher Columbus was a hero or a villain. Students are examining primary sources to help develop their opinion and facts that support that opinion. We have begun our rough drafts of our saints biography project. More information went home today with your student for this project. In Math, we have begun learning about division with and without quotients. Again, math facts are essential to math skills development, so please continue to practice them at home. In religion, we are learning about the many saints as we prepare our saint project. In science, we are about animal and plant adaptations.
Recess Reminder
I know that the weather has been unseasonable, however it will not continue to be as hot as it is now. Please remember to dress your student in layers so that when the weather turns, they will be warm enough during recess.
I-Ready Weekly Assignment
Students are to complete and pass two assignments in Math and in Reading each week. If they have not completed the required lessons, they will be given a reminder notice and will have to complete it at home. Students are given five points for each lesson- which is 10 in Math and 10 in Reading. They must complete and pass their lessons by Friday to get full credit. If they have not completed their weekly required lessons by then, they will not receive full credit for that week. I will do my best to make sure notice has been sent home, both in written and in email form. However, there is a possibility that this is not done every week. Please check your child’s I-Ready dashboard to see where they are at in their progress to complete weekly assignments.
