In fourth grade, we continue our novel study of Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. In order to build our background knowledge to understand the story better, students learned a little bit about WWII and more specifically, the Danish Resistance in Denmark. Students listened to video clips of people, both Jewish and non-Jewish, that lived in Denmark during this time and how the Danish Resistance saved thousands of Jewish people from being deported to concentration camps. We continue our September research project, which is about scientists. Students are learning about the writing process- brainstorming, rough draft, editing, revision, final copy and publication. In math we are working on place value and different expressions of numbers. We continue with our Bubble Gum Math activity. Please practice math facts at least five times a week with your child. In Religion, we continue to learn about how God loves us. Students also received an introduction to Band and the possible instruments they can play if they join the school band. If you child is interested in Newspaper Club, it is not too late. Our first meeting will be on Monday Have a great weekend!
